Emotional health is an important part of overall health. People who are emotionally healthy are in control of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. They’re able to cope with life’s challenges. They can keep problems in perspective and bounce back from setbacks. They feel good about themselves and have good relationships.
This is what we want for all our Caldicotes children and members of our 'Caldi family;' the resources below may be helpful to support you during the unprecedented times of the global pandemic.
NHS telephone number to call if you are worried about a young person's emotional health and well-being, available Monday to Friday between 9am - 5pm: 0300 2000 000
These are our 'Headstart trained' Wellbeing Warriors who are were appointed to offer support with mental health and wellbeing, with Mrs Harrison and Miss Barry, to our Caldi children.
They ensure children are able to make use of our Sensory Garden, Sensory Room and have a person to talk to if they need it.
In 2023, we shared Caldi compliments to help everyone to feel positive about themselves.
We also learned ways to use breathing to help us push down our worries and anxieties, so that we can think our way through difficult times.
Death and the loss of special people in our lives can have a significant impact upon our emotional health and well-being.
Talking to a child about someone close to them dying can be difficult. You may worry that you will frighten them or say the wrong thing. But it’s important to be open and to answer any questions they have as honestly as you can. What children imagine can be far worse than the reality.
Over recent times, children have encountered the death of well-known figures which have included both HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Phillip and Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
Very sadly, our Caldi community suffered the death of Luke, a Reception child, in January 2023. We drew on the strength of our 'Big hearted' community to support Luke's family, his classmates and the wider Caldi community to celebrate his life and will look to make a special Memorial Garden for Luke. The Memorial Garden for Luke will be a place for everyone to enjoy; a place for reflection, quiet contemplation and thoughts about not only Luke but for everyone who is dealing with grief.
