About our uniform

We believe that wearing a school uniform promotes a sense of pride, belonging, and equality among our students. Our uniform policy ensures that all pupils are dressed appropriately for learning, representing our school community with respect and professionalism.

General expectations

Jewellery

On health and safety grounds we have strict rules for piercings. Only 1 lobe piercing is permitted. Children may wear stud earrings only, which must be removed for PE, games, or other energetic / strenuous / physical activities to prevent them from causing injury. As the children are very active and are encouraged to be curious and explore the environment, we do not allow children to have /wear any other jewellery (necklaces, bracelets, rings, tummy-button piercings, tattoos.)

We encourage children to wear a small analogue or simple digital watch to support their ability to tell and read the time. Children are not allowed to wear ‘smart watches.’

Footwear

The school wants all children to grow into healthy adults. We believe that it is dangerous for children to wear shoes that have platform soles or high heels so we do not allow children to wear such shoes in our school. We require all children to wear sensible ‘school’ shoes in a dark colour as stated in the uniform list unless it is playtime or outdoor PE where children may choose to wear training shoes.

Children may wear wellies in wet/ snowy conditions and change into school shoes; please ensure the footwear is clearly  named.

If there are medical reasons for wearing specific footwear that differs from the requirement, evidence must be provided in advance and agreement reached between family and the school leadership.

Hair

All children, girls and boys, are requested to tie hair up where it is long enough to do so. This is for both health and safety reasons and to look smart and ready for school. The colouring of hair and ‘extreme’ hair cuts (tramlines, ‘Mohican’, No1 shaven) would only be acceptable for specific events and occasions when agreed by school, for example: Fundraising activities – Red nose day.

Hair must be tied up in PE.

Equipment

To support learning, students are expected to bring essential equipment such as pens, pencils, a ruler, a scientific calculator and a reading book. Some subjects may require additional items, which will be communicated by the school.
